INCLEMENT WEATHER
Early or Emergency School Closing In case of inclement weather, the superintendent will inform the Emergency Communications Headquarters in Philadelphia as soon as the decision is made to change schools' schedule. Calls will be made to WBCB, WTIM, WAAT, WIP and all Philadelphia stations. The announcement will be for all Neshaminy Schools. Philadelphia stations will announce school by code number. Neshaminy's CODE NUMBER is 752. Parents may call the EVERITT INFORMATION LINE AT 215 741-3602 or the most up-to-date information. Watch Neshaminy TV Channel 15. Listen to WBCB - AM (1490) Listen to KYW - AM (1060) In the event of snow, one of three conditions will exist. The decision made by the superintendent will apply to all Neshaminy schools.
Each family must complete an "EMERGENCY CLOSING FAMILY PLAN" form that will be sent home in early September. It should be promptly returned to the child's teacher who will keep it in the classroom. The teacher will remind your child of the arrangements when an emergency closing occurs. An emergency closing could be due to snow, ice, heat, loss of electricity, fire, water main break, etc. IF CLOSED - NO SCHOOL IF DELAYED OPENING - SCHOOL STARTS AT 10:50 AM. NO AM KINDERGARTEN IF EARLY DISMISSAL - NO AFTERNOON KINDERGARTEN. Review your Early Dismissal Plan at home so you know what to do if we dismiss early. Now that we are into winter weather, it is important that your children come properly dressed for outside recess. As long as it is not rainy, snowy, icy or very windy, we make every effort to let the children go outside for recess even if it is only for a few minutes. EMERGENCY CLOSING FAMILY PLAN Very rarely during the school year but occasionally during the winter, Everitt Elementary School must close early due to extraordinary circumstances or inclement weather. We must all be prepared to help your children arrive home safely. For that reason, at the beginning of each school year our upon registration, parents are required to complete an Emergency Closing Plan form for each child. The plan should indicate what a child would do in the event of the school closing. For instance, the plan might be to walk home with a sibling, to go home and call the parent at work, or to simply take the bus as usual. Suggesting that the child use the office telephone to call the parent at work is not a reasonable solution since the telephone is heavily used on these days and we cannot be sure that a parent can be contacted for last minute instructions. The teacher will keep the Emergency Closing forms in the classroom and remind children of the family plan when necessary.
